TLOS proudly presents New Media Horizons, an ongoing column by guest blogger Schuyler Logan, Social Media Expert, and President/CEO, Schuy-lutions Marketing.
Multifaceted. Unique. Cutting-edge. Powerful.
These are all words I would use to describe new social networking tools like Twitter, Facebook, and email. They are, without a doubt, the Next Big Thing.
1) They help you grow and sustain relationships – both personal and professional.
2) They take your business to the Next Level through their vast reach and connectivity.
3) They offer 21st century solutions to 21st century problems.
4) They are groundbreaking.
Need I say more? OK… why not?
Social media has revolutionized countless fields – politics, business, soccer, beekeeping, and on and on. Well, now add “medicine” to that list.
That’s right… Medicine.
Say, for example, you’ve just been in a violent car wreck. In the Olden Days, you’d call 911, right?
Times have changed.
Rather than call an ambulance, why not just Tweet for help?
OMG! There’s been an accident. My wife is dead & my body is mangled and badly burned – any suggestions???
Or better yet – you need medical attention, but your injury is the direct result of your own shady activities, thus a trip to the hospital is out of the question.
Christ. Right index finger severed by @druglord_carlos. At dumpster behind strip club at Franklin & S. Aurora. Send help, thx — arrgg!
Consulting the opinion of so called “professional doctors” is so 2005, or, as I like to say, PT (pre-Twitter). So, instead, tap into the collective brainpower of your followers – you have them for a reason!
Maybe you’ll share some thoughts on this in the comments?
